Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed that the club has not received a bid for their talented French forward Moussa Dembele, which would mean he is not a January transfer target for the Gunners, according to Arsenal Blog, Daily Cannon.
There has been a lot of speculations around the former Fulham academy graduate, with a long list of clubs being linked with a move for him. These speculations have become a bother to his head coach.
Rodgers who formerly managed Liverpool and Swansea voiced his concerns at the effect the speculations could have on the young striker, while also denying that there had been any concrete negotiations.
“My mind is that he’s a Celtic player and we have not had one bid, I don’t want to keep going on about it because it can affect players, especially young players.
There has been a lot of noise around Moussa for 18 months now but let’s be clear we’ve not had one bid. There have been enquiries around him, but not one bid.
He has been linked with about 16 clubs, but the bottom line is you have to play football. Always be ready to play and then if a move comes, it comes.”
The youngster was phenomenal for Celtic last season with 32 goals and 9 assists in 49 appearances, but his form has dipped this season, with just 8 goals and 3 assists in 21 appearances which in itself isn’t a bad statistic for a 21-year-old, but it represents a marked dip in performance, which is probably why clubs have not made a bid, they will be looking to monitor him and see if he is a one season wonder or a talent taking a dip in form before rising up.
