Chelsea are set to raid Leicester City for Riyad Mahrez as they look to complete their second signing of the window after landing Ross Barkley in a 15 million deal from Everton, according to The Daily Star.
The England international put pen to paper on a five-and-a-half-year deal on Friday becoming the first signing of the window for the Blues, now they have turned their attention to Arsenal and Manchester United target Riyad Mahrez.
Arsenal and Man United have been tracking the Algerian international, with the Gunners seeing several bids for him rejected by Leicester over the past two seasons.
They however are still interested in landing his signature, as manager Arsene Wenger is said to have identified him as the man to replace Alexis Sanchez, and would prove serious competition for Chelsea.
Leicester boss Claude Puel –who has overseen a return to form of the playmaker since he took over the reins at the King Power earlier this season– has insisted that his prized asset is happy at the club and has no interest in leaving, but that won’t deter the Blues who believe he is interested in a move out of the King Power stadium.
Should this move go through, Mahrez will be a very nice addition to the team, with his ability to cut in from the right with his slick left foot, he would represent something close to a left footed Eden Hazard for us.
