Chelsea are set to complete a deal for Arturo Vidal once Bayern Munich complete the signing of his replacement Leon Goretzka from Schalke, according to the Express.
German journalist Manuel Veth believes Leon Goretzka will complete a move to Bayern which would see Chelsea boss Antonio Conte reunited with his former player who he managed at Juventus.
“Sense has been for quite some time that Bayern had nailed down Goretzka,” he explained on Twitter.
“We will likely find out as early as tomorrow if the deal has in fact gone through.
“Goretzka to Bayern would also explain Arturo Vidal’s link to Chelsea.
“From what I understand it is likely the Chilean will be re-united with Conte next summer if/when the Goretzka deal goes through.”
Conte has been keen on reuniting with Arturo Vidal, with the Italian in need of a capable partner for Ngolo Kante in midfield, with his team looking to gain more grounds in their quest for a top four position, having fallen 14 points behind the leaders Man City.
Conte and Vidal won 5 trophies together during their time together in Juventus, before Conte left in 2014, with Vidal leaving 12 months later.
