Arsenal are reportedly one of the four clubs battling to sign Middlesbrough youngster Marcus Tavernier.
The winger recently broke into Boro’s first team and has been impressive since Garry Monk gave him a chance.
Despite just being 18, he’s been able to attract a host of top clubs with his performances.
And according to the Daily Mail via the Daily Cannon, Arsenal are one of the clubs interested in the teenager.
The report claims Arsenal scouts were sent to run the rule over the winger recently and the club has been left impressed.
It is unknown whether Arsenal will step up their interest now or monitor his development for sometime before making a move.
However, should the former be the case, we could face competition from Bournemouth, Everton and Aston Villa, all of whom are keen on his services.
Tavernier has made just six appearances for Boro since his breakthrough and has found the back of the net twice.
I haven’t had the opportunity to see him in action but it is only normal that when there is a decent English talent, he would be linked with Arsenal.
The club has signed teens playing in the Championships or League One in the past, so it isn’t abnormal that scouts are watching Tavernier.
However, I don’t see a move for Tavernier happening just yet. Arsenal have a host of well talented players on their books and anybody from the outside will have to prove he is a special talent before the club would make a move.
