Mesut Ozil wants to join Manchester United when his contract expires at the end of the season.
This is according to the Daily Mail, which claims Ozil is desperate to be reunited with Mourinho and has set his heart on a move to Old Trafford when he becomes a free agent.
The report claims Ozil has already informed his close friends that he believes Mourinho is interested in signing him.
Arsenal are now looking to stop Ozil from joining Manchester United in the summer by putting him up for sale in the Janaury transfer window, after being told by the player that he isn’t going to sign a contract extension.
It is said that Arsenal are confident of finding a buyer in the new year, even though there is no concrete interest in him yet.
No club appear ready to spend big on the German at the moment, meaning, Arsenal would have to accept a minimal fee for him, as that appears to be the only way we can lure other clubs to make their move. It then remains to be seen whether Ozil will resist any attempt to sell him in January in order to join Utd for free.
Ozil enjoyed a good working relationship with Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid and they have kept in touch since then.
Gooners will not want to see him join Man Utd and will be hoping he moves abroad instead. However, the chances of that happening hangs in the balance after his agent claimed the German wants to play in the Premier League for a couple of years more.
