Serie A champions Juventus are looking to sign in-form Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere on a free transfer when his contract expires in the summer, according to the Daily Mail.
Wilshere has six months left on his deal and rejected the last offer from Arsenal which represented a pay cut, but has indicated that he is willing to sign a new deal.
However, The Sun reports that Juventus are hoping they can lure the 26-year-old to the Serie A in the summer transfer window, and can work on reaching a pre-contract agreement this month in the Bosman rule, as they are a foreign club.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is confident that his midfielder who has been at the club for 16 years will extend his stay at the club. He even hinted that Wilshere can become the next captain at the club if he committed to a new deal.
Speaking to the press, he said: “I see him here because he is an Arsenal man. He was here at the age of 10 and I believe as well he’s not only been here for a long time but he has some leadership qualities. He has a football brain. He is completely focused on Arsenal.
‘The fact that he has been away and come back… he realizes as well that life here is not so bad maybe! That is important. He can be one of the leaders in the future.
‘Who would question his love and commitment for the club? Nobody. We have to find an agreement that makes him happy.”
The Gunners are believed to have offered Wilshere a new contract worth £80,000 a week plus performance related add-ons. The player said talks will continue after the transfer window closes.
