Manchester United have completed the signing of highly rated Uruguayan fullback Guillermo Varela, 20 from Atletico Penarol in his homeland.
The signing is more significant in that it signals the first arrival of the David Moyes Old Trafford Era. Varela is currently preparing for the Under 20 World Championship and will compete with South American counterpart Rafael for the right back slot next season.
Perhaps interestingly, the young Uruguayan had been on trial in Manchester last season suggesting that outgoing manager Sir Alex Ferguson had a hand in the deal.
The majority of the transfer talk at United this summer is circulating around former star Cristiano Ronaldo. Everton pair Leighton Baines and Marouane Fellaini have also been heavily linked with moves to follow the former Toffees boss. With reports linking vice captain Patrice Evra to his former club Monaco, a deal for the Everton left back appears a perfect match.
Moyes is also recruiting his background staff with new additions expected in the next few weeks.
