Bookmakers have installed Arsenal as one of the three top clubs that could sign Bacary Sagna.

The former Arsenal defender was released by Manchester City at the end of last season and he is yet to find a new club.

Starsport linked both Manchester United and Chelsea to the defender some weeks ago but the Bookies have now put Arsenal in contention for his signature.

Though, Torino are currently regarded as favorites to sign the defender, Arsenal closely follow at 3/1, while Manchester United is far behind at 7/1.

A BetStars spokesperson said, as quoted by the Daily:

“Arsenal are 3/1 contenders to snap up 34-year-old Bacary Sagna, who is currently a free agent after being released by Manchester City.

“Serie A side Torino are favourites to sign Sagna and are priced at 5/2 with BetStars to recruit him to replace Davide Zappacosta, who made a deadline day switch to Chelsea.

“Crystal Palace, Chelsea and Manchester United are also interested in signing the experienced right-back.

“The Eagles are 7/2 to bring him to Selhurst Park with Premier League champions Chelsea poised at 5/1.

“A move to Old Trafford can be backed at 7/1 as Jose Mourinho seeks defensive reinforcements amid an injury outbreak.”

Although the bookies placing Arsenal as one of the favorites for Sagna’s signature doesn’t mean Wenger is actually interested in signing him, one can understand that this is emerging from the fact that Arsenal have no cover for Hector Bellerin at right back, after Chamberlain joined Liverpool.

However, signing Sagna wouldn’t go down well with Arsenal supporters. The defender is already past his best long time ago and it would be silly to bring him back when he has little or nothing to offer. Again, the way he left us to join City in 2014 didn’t go down well with a lot of supporters, so some of us won’t like the idea of a reunion.
