Dembele snub Arsenal and Liverpool advances despite Barcelona move for Griezmann

Liverpool and Arsenal are set to be handed a major summer transfer blow if reports making the rounds are anything to go by.

Arsenal and Liverpool summer target Ousmane Dembele has answered questions about his future by declaring he is staying put at Barcelona, according to reports from Goal.

This is against earlier reports that suggest Dembele could be heading for the exit door at Barca after claims of the club’s pursuit for star man Antoine Griezmann.

The Atletico Madrid forward has regained his sensational form and is again on the radar of top European clubs this summer.

Griezmann on his part has revealed that he is finally ready to consider an adventure away from the Spanish capital, and many football pundits and Top Bookmakers are backing the Frenchman to complete a sensational switch to Barcelona in the summer.

Dembele on the other hand, who is wanted by Liverpool and Arsenal, has struggled in his first season at the Nou Camp with injuries and inconsistencies hampering his debut campaign.

But the 20 year-old star he has vowed to fight on.

“I signed a five-year contract with Barcelona,” he said.

“I am going to be in Barcelona for a long time. I do not want to leave after a year.”

Premier League duo Liverpool and Arsenal were hopeful of securing the services of the young forward this summer, with reports of Barcelona’s pursuit of fellow France international star Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid.

However, Dembele has squashed rumours of a shock summer transfer despite the reported incoming transfer of a huge rival for his place in the sqaud with his latest comments:

“It’s Barca. It’s like that. I’m glad that [Philippe] Coutinho has come in,” he said.

This comments from Dembele will come as a huge blow to both Liverpool and Arsenal, who were lining up a surprise summer transfer switch for the sensational forward.

Demebele currently holds the record as the fourth-most expensive transfer, after his £97m move from Borussia Dortmund to Barcelona in August 2017.
