Raheem Sterling claims he didn’t even consider a move to Arsenal in the summer amid reports of being involved in a proposed swap deal with Sanchez.
Man City were interested in signing Sanchez in the summer but Wenger who wanted a replacement, suggested the possibility of Sterling moving the other way but City snubbed the proposal.
And when asked about Arsenal’s interest in signing him, Sterling said: “I didn’t need to speak with him (Guardiola) because I had already spoken to him during the summer about pre-season.
“I didn’t have any negative thoughts or anything bad about it. I just woke up one day with England and saw it, and I didn’t believe a word of it until I heard something from the manager, then I would believe it.
“It wasn’t something I was worried about because Pep is an honest guy, and he would have spoken to me about it before that. So I didn’t need to worry about it, and I didn’t think about it, not for one minute.”
Sterling joined City from Liverpool in 2015 and Arsenal were also linked with him then. So Wenger’s interest in the midfielder appear to be a long standing one. Our chances of signing him anytime soon will depend on his situation at City, he is getting games at the moment, so he won’t be in a hurry to change club.
