Arsenal could make a move for Inter Milan midfielder Joao Mario in the January transfer window, according to reports.
The Portuguese have been put up for sale by Inter and Arsenal have been linked with him.
Mario has failed to impress at the San Siro since he joined them in 2016 and they are now looking for a way to get him out.
According to Tutto Mercato Web via the Daily Cannon, Mario could be allowed to leave in January for about £26m.
To make the story more interesting, the Daily Star have inserted Arsenal’s name as one of the clubs keen on signing him.
Wenger may well be in the market for a new playmaker next season as Mesut Ozil has refused to sign a new contract with us but Mario isn’t the player we should be targeting.
The midfielder has been unimpressive at Inter and there’s no reason we should be looking to sign him.
In short I am almost certain that Arsenal would be looking at other targets to replace Ozil and not Mario.
At the rate at which competition is becoming fierce in the Premier League, we will have to sign only players that would improve out first team and Mario isn’t that kind of player.
