Sporting Lisbon Director Nuno Saraiva has revealed they didn’t receive any bid for William Carvalho.
It was recently claimed that Arsenal had a deadline day bid for the midfield enforcer rejected but Saraiva has denied claims of any interest in the talented midfielder.
The director of Sporting was responding to claims made by West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan, that they rejected the chance of signing Carvalho. Saraiva subsequently slammed the Hammers boss, calling him a liar.
“David Sullivan is lying,” Nuno Saraiva wrote on his Facebook page, as quoted by the Daily Cannon.
“Sporting Clube de Portugal, as its chairman has already said, has received no offer for the player William Carvalho.
“The football business is a not an adult film set on which all obscenities are allowed. This intellectual pornography is not worthy of a head of a football club.”
However, it appears people close to Carvalho were doing everything possible for him to move to the Premier League by offering him around and that must have been the source of the reports linking him with West Ham and Arsenal
He continued, “David Sullivan has the duty of proving what he said. Sporting Clube de Portugal is challenging him to publish the proposals that he said were made, as well as the proof that Sporting CP received them.
“One thing is clear: Sporting CP, as we have said, does not cut the legs off its players. But we have nothing to do with the behaviour of business men or family members who live off the players and who go around offering them from club to club at bargain basement prices, without any mandate, as if they were cheap supermarket produce.
“It devalues players, it devalues the club, and it creates unfortunate situations like this one, which has forced Sporting Club to take drastic measures to defend itself from these characters who live off some players like parasites.”
If sporting didn’t receive an official bid for Carvalho, it then means the reported deadline day bid from Arsenal was false.
However, Wenger appears to be a big fan of the midfielder, with the club being linked with him since 2013.
Little wonder why the media was quick to link us with him again this summer.
