Roman Abramovich is demanding answers over Chelsea’s underwhelming summer activities, according to the Daily Star.
Antonio Conte and Chelsea fans have been left frustrated by the club’s transfers in the just concluded window and it appears Abramovich wasn’t pleased either.
Many expected more from the Blues after winning the Premier League, they were expected to improve their squad considerably in order to be able to challenge in Europe but one can hardly say the club has improved it’s first team.
Of the six arrivals at Chelsea this summer, only Alvaro Morata has come in for Diego Costa in the starting xi and one can’t say that’s an upgrade just yet.
Romelu Lukaku, Alex Sandro, Fernando Llorente, Ross Barkley and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all rejected the chance of moving to Chelsea and that doesn’t tell well of a club who just won the most competitive league in the world few months ago.
And according to the Express via the Daily Star, club owner Abramovich is set to demand explanations from club directors Marina Granovskaia and Michael Emenalo about the club’s underwhelming transfer window.
The duo are in charge of Chelsea’s transfers and their failure to provide Conte with the players he wanted has put them under increasing pressure.
Chelsea fans will be excited by this claim as it will show that Abramovich is still committed to the club’s success. The owner has shown serious commitment to the club since he acquired it in 2004 and it’s a good thing that the commitment hasn’t died down. He might be less involved in the day to day running of the club but obviously, he is still keen on the club’s growth and that is important.
