Chelsea will renew their interest in Alex Sandro when the January transfer window opens, according to reports.
Conte wanted to sign Sandro in the summer but Juventus weren’t interested in selling the Brazilian.
Several attempts by the Blues to convince the Italians to sell the Brazilian were unsuccessful and Chelsea ended up going into the season without a quality option to compete with Marcos Alonso for the left wing back position.
With injuries and participation in the UEFA Champions League exposing Chelsea’s thin squad depth, the Blues are reportedly plotting a January swoop for the Brazilian.
Antonio Conte is believed to be unhappy with Chelsea’s inability to secure his top transfer targets in the summer and has been made to improvise by playing Azpilicueta at left wing back whenever he needs to rest Alonso.
Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo via the Daily Star are now claiming Chelsea are ready to renew their interest in Sandro.
This time around, the Blues are willing to spend up to £70m to sign the defender.
Despite reports from Italy that Juventus are close to agreeing a new deal with the defender, no announcement has been made and the report believes it could just play into Chelsea’s hands if nothing is finalized before January.
Mundo Deportivo believe the move could finally happen in January as Chelsea want to do everything possible to please Antonio Conte.
Sandro remains top of Chelsea’s radar but I don’t think a winter move will happen. Such big moves can be complicated and difficult to complete, so finalizing that in January may be a bit of a task. Again the defender will be cuptied for the Champions League and unless Juventus fail to reach the knockout stages – which is unlikely, he wouldn’t think of changing clubs.
I don’t just see this happening in January, maybe next summer.
