Watford vs Chelsea
England – Premier League
Date: Monday, 5 February 2018
Kick-Off at 20:00 UK
Venue: Vicarage Road Stadium (Watford).
Chelsea will be hoping to rebound from a horrendous 0-3 defeat at home to the likes of AFC Bournemouth this Monday when they are to close the Matchday No 26 against Watford at Vicarage Road Stadium. There were plenty of rumours surrounding the Blues in the recently closed transfer window and this has certainly affected the team’s displays on the pitch.
Antonio Conte has basically only made the swap in the final third replacing reserve striker Michy Batshuayi with Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud. The Frenchman could make his debut here on Monday as the team’s first option up front, Alvaro Morata, is sidelined due to injury and won’t travel to Vicarage Road.
Chelsea’s form has overall seen a massive slide of late, particularly on travels where the Blues have won only two of last eight matches in all competitions. The loss to the Cherries has dropped the team down to fourth place, and a potential failure here might get the champions out of the top four.
Luckily for Conte, Watford have not actually been enjoying a stellar form in their most recent fixtures. The Hornets come into this winless in last five league ties (three losses) having allowed two or more goals in four of last five outings.
This should open up the space for Eden Hazard who is Chelsea’s most lethal weapon at this stage. The Belgian has notched three goals in last four matches, and if anyone is to make the difference for the champions here, it’s him.
