Arsenal have received a huge boost in their bid to sign Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan with reports indicating that the Spanish giants have told the versatile midfielder he can leave the club in the New Year.
The Turkish international is struggling for game time having fallen well out of favour with Ernesto Valverde at the Camp Nou, Wenger could very well revive his interest in the player who was a reported target for the gaffer last summer.
The 30-year-old was heavily linked with a move to the Emirates last summer window but new Barcelona boss Valverde wanted to keep hold of all the players he met at the club to properly asses his options ahead of his first season with the Spanish giants.
Turan however seems to have failed to impress the new boss as he is yet to make an appearance for the club thus far this season albeit also due to injuries. The Catalan side are now understood to have deemed him surplus to requirements and look forward to moving him on when the winter transfer window opens in January.
According to Lluis Miguelsanz of Spanish newspaper Sport via Daily Cannon, the former Atletico Madrid man who has been told he can leave the Camp Nou next year.
Turan who has in the past openly admitted that his lack of playing time at Barcelona is not ideal last got some competitive game time during last month’s international break featuring for an hour against Iceland during Turkey’s 2018 World Cup qualifier, which his country lost 3-0.
