Manchester United has been put on alert after reports that Cristiano Ronaldo has asked Real Madrid to set an asking price for him, so he can leave at the end of the season.
Reports claim that the five-time World Best Player is hoping that Los Blancos will allow him leave Spain for £89 million or less, amid interest from Manchester United and Paris Saint Germain.
The Portuguese captain has three and a half years left on his current deal which contains an £88.7 million release clause.
His party however believe the clause is excessive and are seeking assurance from Real Madrid president Florentino Perez that a realistic fee will be agreed on if a willing party comes in for the player.
The Sun believes that the relationship between Florentino Perez and Cristiano Ronaldo has deteriorated to the level that the Madrid all time highest goal scorer doesn’t even want to talk to the president.
It is believed that Ronaldo is unhappy with Perez going back on his promise to increase his wage to make him on par with some of the best paid players in football, as he earns less than both Messi and Neymar, even after beating both of them to win his fifth Ballon d’Or last month to become the joint highest winner.
Man United will have to fend off competition from PSG to sign their former player, but in my opinion Ronaldo will be 33 by the end of the season and is past his best, at £89 million he will not represent value for money. United should go after younger options.
