Chelsea are still in talks with Maurizio Sarri to make the former Napoli boss their next manager after talks with Luis Enrique and Laurent Blanc broke down due to contractual issues.
Napoli have snapped up Carlo Ancelotti, however, Chelsea are being ordered to still pay Sarri’s £7m release clause.
Goal say the Blues are hopeful they can prise Sarri out of his contract.
The Daily Star reveals Sarri wants Napoli defensive duo Kalidou Koulibaly and Elseid Hysaj to be signed by Chelsea as he has plans to reunite with the duo when he takes over at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea will have the final say on deals as usual, but their slow progress in replacing Conte has seen them fall behind in the transfer market this summer as they are yet to make any addition to the squad this summer.
Sarri left Napoli at the end of the 2017-18 season but is still tied contractually to the Serie A runners-up.
Napoli’s president Aurelio De Laurentiis has subsequently proved too difficult to negotiate with for Chelsea, despite Sarri being keen on coming to west London and the chief affirming he would be “reasonable” in any talks.
Chelsea have also contacted Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic over a move to take over from Antonio Conte.
