Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Caglar Soyuncu as agent confirms ‘concrete’ talks for the £35m-rated Freiburg and Turkey centre-back, according to the Express.
Soyuncu has emerged as one of the top young centre-backs in the Bundesliga after two impressive seasons at Freiburg.
The 22-year-old has also been capped 15 times by Turkey and is believed to have been identified by Arsenal’s head of recruitment Sven Mislintat.
His agent Mustafa Dogru claims Arsenal head of recruitment Mislintat, who previously worked at Borussia Dortmund, is interested in the young defender.
“Sven Mislintat has been keen on Caglar since he was at Borussia Dortmund. He first scouted him back in Germany,” Mustafa Dofru told Turkish Football.
“Sven is interested in Caglar, there are concrete talks, all that remains is for a fee to be agreed. We will see what happens next.
“What I will say regarding the Liverpool link is that there were four to five Premier League clubs scouting him over the international break.
“There are four Premier League sides who’ve made a move for Soyuncu, that we are in talks with.”
Soyuncu is under contract with Freiburg until 2021, while last season he made 30 appearances for his club in all competitions.
Arsenal have already confirmed the signing of Swiss international Stephan Lichtsteiner from Juventus.
Greek international defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos is also set to sign for Arsenal from Borussia Dortmund.
