Joe Hart’s season of misery has been compounded after being dropped by England.
The Manchester City goalkeeper has already lost his place at club level to Costel Pantilimon for the last five games.
And he has been told he will not be playing in the Wembley friendly against Chile on Friday night. Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Forster is set to replace Hart after the City ‘keeper has made a series of blunders at club and international level.
And we understand Forster may even be given the No1 position as England goalkeeper ahead of next summer’s World Cup Finals. England boss Roy Hodgson confirmed he has left Hart out if the starting line up – but may recall him for the friendly against Germany next week.
Forster will start and Norwich’s John Ruddy is expected to take over in the second half.
Hodgson said: “Joe Hart won’t be starting the game against Chile. But you will have to work out which of the other two will start.
“I haven’t spoken to the players about the team and until I do that, I don’t want to get drawn any more on my team selection or formation. It’s nice to have such good players to choose from.
“We’ve had Fraser with us and I know quite a lot about him, but I will make the decision whether to choose one or use both and I’m afraid you will have to wait to see what that decision is.”
