Former Watford striker Odion Ighalo has urged Jack Wilshere to leave Arsenal if he wants to make England’s World Cup team.
Wilshere is yet to start a Premier League game for Arsenal this season, making only a couple of substitute appearances so far.
His situation at Arsenal is already having somewhat of a negative impact on his international future, with England manager Gareth Southgate refusing to pick him in the last international break despite England’s midfield crisis.
With the World Cup coming up next summer, Ighalo has now urged Wilshere to leave Arsenal if he wants to be part of the showpiece.
Speaking in a recent interview with the Premier League Daily as quoted by the Daily Cannon, Ighalo said:
“For him to get more games and to be ready for the World Cup, he has to play more.
“If he’s still there and he’s not getting the opportunities to play, I’d advise him to leave. He’s a very good player, he can’t be there sitting on the bench. If he cannot play at Arsenal, he can play at any other big team in the Premier League”
Ighalo comments will not go down well with many Arsenal fans who want to see Wilshere stay here for a long time.
The midfielder is an emblem of Arsenal’s culture and beliefs and it would be great if he stays and achieve a legendary status.
