French defender Mathieu Debuchy in a parting message to Arsenal has disclosed that he had endured dismal moments during his time in the club, The claimed leaving arsenal was a relief, According to the Mirror, in an interview with L’Equipe.
The 32-year old who spent three and a half years in Arsenal left for free after his contract was terminated at the club and subsequently signed for Ligue One side St-Etienne on deadline day.
Debuchy joined Arsenal in 2014, but as a result of series of injuries causing him to have surgeries on his heel and shoulder he only managed to make 30 appearances.
In spite of all these, he has decided to relive only the good memories. “I had a hard time there but I only want to remember the good memories he told L’Equipe”. (via Tribal Football)
On twitter he wrote “Thank you @ Arsenal and all the fans! Even if I had some difficult moments I will always remember my time in the club. Goodluck for the rest of the season! Thank you all.”
The player who seems well adjusted in his new club, he said, “Even if St Etienne are going through a delicate period, it is still a mythical club. He added that his priorities were to get a run of matches and rediscover the rhythm and pleasure of playing and most importantly help the club”.
The France defender has so far scored a goal on his debut which was unexpected for a player who has only played 29 times for the Gunners following his move from Newcastle united.
