The Reds have changed their stand regarding Monaco winger Thomas Lemar. And there would be no move for the France International by Liverpool.

In January, Liverpool FC indicated their interest in the player as a replacement for Philippe Coutinho who was sold to Barcelona. They had their hopes up after the 22-year-old rejected an extension of his contract at Monaco.

The player had also been an object of interest for Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger who was said to be keeping tabs on the player but had not submitted a formal bid.

It was expected that the two teams will rekindle their interest in the player but Liverpool has opted out of the race, reported to be as a result of Arsenal indicating an interest and inflating the price with big money offer.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp who has shifted his attention to other targets believes that the £90 million price tag on him is excessive and would be better if the cash is channeled to better use in the summer.

Last season, Lemar bagged 14 goals and provided 17 assists and aided Monaco get to semi- finals of Champion’s League and this is believed to be the reason for Liverpool’s interest in him.

This season however he has not been as impressive as he has only scored 3 goals and provided 5 assists.

Liverpool FC recruitment team are assured that there are other wingers who are available and would meet their needs.
