Report making the round, claim Liverpool have intensified talks with Stoke Xherdan Shaqiri after missing out on signing Lyon star Nabil Fekir.
The Metro claims Shaqiri’s brother who act as his agent has held talks with Liverpool senior figures about a move to Anfield for the Stoke star.
Shaqiri has a £13.5m release clause on his contract is set to leave current club Stoke City this summer following their relegation from the Premier League.
The Liverpool Echo reported that Klopp will go ahead with the Shaqiri deal to make up for Fekir last minute disappointment.
Shaqiri will act as a back-up for Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah who have all been in fine form all season.
The Swiss international has remained coy on rumours linking him with a move to Anfield.
He said: “I do not know why you’re talking about Liverpool right now.
“I can not say at the moment. There I have my advisors, my brother looks for my future. I focus only on the national team.
“I can not say that now. The transfer window will be open in a month, then we’ll see what happens.”
