Liverpool are set to battle Arsenal for the services of out of favour Paris Saint-Germain winger Julian Draxler.
The Gunners who are long term admirers of the German international Julian Draxler are understood to be monitoring the player’s situation in Paris.
The 23-year-old who only arrived at the Parc des Princes in January in a £35million move from Germany is understood to be unhappy with life in Paris having lost his preferred position in the first team due to Paris Saint-Germain’s summer heavy recruitment.
PSG made Neymar the most expensive footballer of all time in a £198million deal last summer and then added French sensation Kylian Mbappe to further bolster their attacking ranks.
Draxler who has been a casualty of their arrival could very well seek a move away from PSG. The player has been linked with a possible switch to the Emirates in the past, but recent reports from France have indicated that Liverpool are keen to temporarily take him in January.
It is L’Equipe via Tribal Football that has revealed that Liverpool have already made contact with the Parisian club over an ambitious loan move.
The winger has largely impressed since making his move to the French capital, Draxler ended last season in blistering form having scored 10 goals and assisted 3 times in 25 appearances, he then captained a second string German side to victory in the Confederations Cup and was rightfully crowned the best player in Russia.
With the departure of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the last window and the expected departure of Alexis Sanchez in one of the next two windows, the Emirates is already crying out for the arrival of a talented wideman and Wenger should be looking at beating the competition to land Draxler should he become available.
