West Brom defender Jonny Evans will prefer to return to Manchester United than move to either Arsenal or Man City, according to reports.
The 29-year-old North Ireland International started his career in Manchester United before leaving in 2015 after losing his first team place under David Moyes and Louis Van Gaal. He moved to West Brom and became a key player, with his performances improving over the years.
Arsenal currently are in obvious need of a defender with Koscielny’s persistent injuries and Per Mertesacker retirement meaning an experienced center back is needed while Chambers and Holding continue to develop.
Manchester United on the other hand have a lot of defensive options, but will do well with Evans experience and United background.
West Brom manager Alan Pardew however, admits he is likely to leave in January if the right offer comes along.
“I’m never confident when you’ve got great players because other clubs want great players, so your best players are always vulnerable
“Jonny Evans is definitely one of them and he is our captain. Do I want to lose him? Of course not. Do I fear losing him? Of course I do.
There was interest in him in the summer so it makes sense to stir it up. They are good headlines for the media. I understand that, we deal with it and Jonny has dealt with it in his own way. He was terrific for me.”
Arsenal and City both made moves for him in the summer but were discouraged by the £35 million price tag placed on him.
