Barcelona misfit Andre Gomes could be heading to Manchester United in a sensational £31 million move according to the Mirror.
Mourinho had been looking to bring Andre Gomes to Old Trafford in the summer according to The Sun, but he failed in his attempt, and has now reignited his interest this winter.
The Sun also believes that superstar agent Jorge Mendes is trying to push through a move for the midfielder who is looking to end his unsuccessful spell at Barcelona which has seen him lose his place in the starting lineup to Paulinho.
Gomes arrived at the Camp Nou from Valencia for £27 million in 2016, and has made 38 appearances, scoring three goals in that time, however he has not really found his feet in the Barcelona squad, and the arrival of Paulinho –who has been in inspirational form since he joined in the summer– has seen him lose his place in lineup.
Mourinho on his part is in search of reinforcement for his Man United squad he feels is not at the level it should be.
“We are in the second year of trying to rebuild a football team that is not one of the best teams in the world.
“Manchester City buy full-backs for the price of strikers. When you speak about big football clubs, you are speaking about the history of the club.” He said after a 2-2 draw with Burnley which saw his side fall 15 points behind league leaders Man City.
Andre Gomes is one of a number of names on his wish list, and a move in January is on the cards, with the urgent need to find a replacement for Henrik Mhkitaryan who is likely to leave the club this month.
