Gary Neville wants Manchester United to sign Alexis Sanchez, when his contract at Arsenal expires.

Jose Mourinho has reportedly joined the race to sign the midfielder and it’s being claimed that the Portuguese is confident of persuading the forward to join United rather than City.

Neville has now declared his support for the move, insisting Sanchez is the kind of player they need at Manchester United.

“Manchester United, in my mind, should always be challenging for the best players in the world,” the pundit told Sky Sports News at the launch of University Academy 92.

“The argument is that always Barcelona and Real Madrid if they do want someone they will get them and that has played itself out over the last 10/15 years but United are now financially challenging.

They are paying the sums they need to pay to attract the best players in the world.

“I’ve not seen the Alexis Sanchez news, so you have given me something I haven’t heard before, but, from that point of view, United, from a general perspective, should always be challenging for the best players in the world and bringing them in.”

Manchester City would want to thread carefully because everyone know United have a strong pulling power. Jose Mourinho’s caused waves in the summer when he signed Romelu Lukaku who was expected to join Chelsea.

However, Arsenal still have a chance to say where Sanchez will end up if we receive offers in January.

United’s interest could force Manchester City to make an official bid when the transfer window reopens, which may result into a bidding war between all clubs interested in the striker.
