Former Manchester United midfielder Gordon Strachan believes that Alexis Sanchez arrival will mean that Anthony Martial will have to make a huge decision, according to the Express.
The Sky Sport pundit, while speaking about Alexis Sanchez arrival at Old Trafford suggested that when the Chilean links up with the team, he will push Anthony Martial down the pecking order.
Strachan believes that Martial will have to think about a move away from the club if that happens, unless he can add a vital part to his game.
“You can actually take the challenge, sort it out, become a better player and use the presence of these good players to be better yourself,” Strachan told The Debate.
“Or you go, too much for me, I’ll go somewhere else where life is a little bit simpler.
“When you leave Manchester United it is very unlikely you will get another chance at a top top club.
“He should not be saying ‘oh no Sanchez is coming in; I have got to move on.’
“You take the challenge on.”
The winger has been inconsistent at Manchester United, and though he has gotten more game time this season under Mourinho, his tracking back which has been a weak point isn’t top notch yet and Strachan also agrees.
“You cannot say he is a victim of Mourinho. I cannot say that he played well under Louis van Gaal,”.
“I think he showed glimpses but it has to be 90 minutes.
“He has got the ability to beat people but he has to start getting back.
“If a manager sees a weakness in that then you don’t play.”
