Former Chelsea defender Wayne Bridge believes the club must sign a back up striker to assist Alvaro Morata in January.
Morata has hit the ground running at Stamford Bridge, scoring seven goals in nine games.
However, Bridge thinks the striker will need some help if he is going to guide Chelsea to titles this season.
“I really like him but I expect them to probably sign another centre-forward in January,” he told The Sun.
“Not to replace Morata but someone either to work with him or they can change.
“Someone physically a bit stronger and who wants to bully defenders.” Bridge added: “Morata has obvious quality – he’s quick, he’s running in behind and scoring goals with his head and his feet.
“He’s a totally different player in terms of what Chelsea are used to, with the likes of Didier Drogba and Costa who are big and strong and bullied defenders.
“With the likes of Fabregas who can slip him in, with the runs that he makes he’s going to get chances.”
Bridge words can’t be any truer, Morata limped out of Chelsea’s game against City on Saturday, exposing the need for a quality back up striker.
Michy Batshuayi hasn’t proven to be good enough and it seems Conte doesn’t trust him enough to replace the Spaniard.
A striker in January could become a necessity if we want to challenge with the Manchester clubs.
