Man United are set to use Madrid’s interest in Daley Blind to bargain a move for Spanish international midfielder Marco Asensio.
Daley Blind’s contract expires in the summer with Man United having the option to extend it by a year, but the Daily Star believe Jose Mourinho could offload the utility man.
Barcelona had seemed the next destination for Blind, with the Catalonian club linked with a move for the 27-year-old, but Madrid may now look to hijack the deal.
United however will look to use Blind as a bargaining tool in their pursuit of midfielder Marco Asensio who they have been targeting to fill the No. 10 role at Old Trafford.
Marco Asensio has fallen down the pecking order at the Santiago Bernabeu, and has found game time harder to come by recently.
With the world cup coming up next year he’ll be looking to get more playing time, but he has insisted he will stay at Madrid and fight for his place.
“It is difficult to manage a squad as good as our own, but Zidane knows he can count on me.
“I work hard every day to earn more minutes, but I am aware of where I am. I am at the best club in the world and I am happy at Real Madrid.” He said.
Marco Asensio would bring a lot to Manchester United’s squad and Jose Mourinho would do well to try to convince him to make the move.
