Liverpool have opened talks with Roma over €70m (£62.2m) including add-ons for goalkeeper Alisson Becker with Sky Sport Italia reporter Gianluca Di Marzio, claiming Liverpool are in “advanced talks” to sign the Brazil international.
The Reds are desperate to land the Alisson and are prepared to pay a world-record fee for the Brazilian international who has been sensational for both Country and club.
It is understood Roma are holding out for another €5m to take the total fee to €75m (£66.6m) for the 25-year-old but both clubs are hopeful that an agreement can be reached.
The Brazilian goalkeeper has long been linked with a move to Anfield, with his representative Ze Maria Neis now hinting that he would be in favour of a switch.
Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius having struggled to convince between the posts for the Reds, Jurgen Klopp has been heavily linked with a number of alternatives.
It is understood Karius performance in the Champions League against Real Madrid where he made two costly mistakes has pushed Klopp in spending heavy for the 6” tall shot-stopper.
Should this deal goes through, it would make Alisson the world’s most expensive goalkeeper, eclipsing the €53m paid by Juventus for Gianluigi Buffon in 2001 and the €40m it cost Manchester City to buy Ederson from Benfica last summer.
