Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho wants to replace star midfielder Paul Pogba and has identified Brazilian midfielder Fred as his replacement.
Mourinho and Pogba have not been in the best of relationships with the manager hauling him off in a number of games this season including the shock defeat at home to West Brom last Sunday.
The Portuguese manager is said to want a more tactically disciplined midfielder who he can rely on, and he doesn’t see Pogba as such a player with the player’s inconsistency and lack of tactical discipline often infuriating him.
He is however, ready to rival Manchester City for the £50 million rated Fred who plies his trade for Shakhtar Donetsk.
Fred is no short of admirers but seems to have his mind set on Manchester. He is managed by former Arsenal player Gilberto Silva, and the former midfielder has confirmed that the player wants to move to the Premier League.
The fight is now between United and City, but United board would be concerned that losing their record signing because of him might come back to bite them, should Pogba turn out to be a huge success in another team.
Whichever way they go; this will surely be a big test of their support for Mourinho who has repeatedly called them out on occasions this season.
