Arsenal’s plans for Alexis Sanchez’s imminent departure are well underway with The Express stating that the Gunners are looking at signing Barcelona winger Jose Arnaiz.
The 22-year-old Barcelona B player has been in fine form in the Spanish Adelante division with six goal and 4 assists in 19 games so far this season, after joining from Real Valladolid last summer.
His performances have impressed observers with Ernesto Valverde rewarding his performances with a call up to the senior side against Real Murcia in the Copa del rey and he did not disappoint scoring in both legs.
Like Alexis he plays predominantly on the left side of attack and can operate in a more central role and behind the striker.
He has a contract at Camp Nou until 2021 with a £20 million release clause.
He doesn’t seem like the caliber of player Arsenal fans would want to replace Alexis, a move for him will be more of a cast of the net with the hope it turns up a goldfish. But whether Wenger feels such a gamble is worth £20 million remains to be seen.
