Respected journalists, RAC1 say Arsenal made a serious offer to sign Ousmane Dembele.
The Gunners reportedly offered £9m to take the winger on loan for the upcoming season.
It is understood Barcelona were convinced that Dembele would have no interest in the move so decided to not even inform the player.
While the transfer window is closed for Premier League sides, it remains open until August 31 for European teams.
Meanwhile, Paris Saint-German have also shown interest in signing the French man but the Ligue 1 champions are yet to make an official approach for the 21-year-old.
Dembele has a release clause of £360m which means PSG would have to break the bank in signing the Frenchman and beat their own own £200m world record transfer fee spent on signing Neymar.
The former Borussia Dortmund star joined Barca for a £100m last summer but failed to make an impression at the Nou Camp in his debut season
However, just days after making his La Liga bow, Dembele was ruled out for four months with a hamstring injury, before scoring four times in 23 appearances.
