Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed that he will attend the Ballon d’Or ceremony which is supposed to be held on 13th January, 2014.
There were some rumours earlier that the Portuguese will not attend the ceremony until it was guaranteed that he would be winning the prize.
He is the most likely to get the prize due to his amazing individual statistics in 2013.
He has hit many landmarks in 2013. He hit a hat trick in Portugal’s World Cup qualifier second leg against Sweden and has scored 20 goals in 17 games in the current La Liga, more than any other player. He also completed a career 400 goals in Real Madrid’s meeting with Celta Vigo, against whom they won 3-0.
With his competitor Lionel Messi, four times Ballon d’ Or winner side lined due to injury near the end of the year, the Portuguese’s chances of winning this prestigious award have increased.
Though the last nominee Frank Ribery has earned a lot for his club Bayern Munich in terms of trophies, his individual statistics have not been better than the Portuguese winger’s.
With Cristiano Ronaldo scoring, Lionel Messi returning from injury and Frank Ribery dominating the Bundesliga, it is most likely that they only will be the nominees for this year’s Ballon d’Or too.
