Rooney is a wanted man

By now the whole world knows that Wayne Rooney wants to leave Old Trafford, and it has a lot to do with his former Everton manager David Moyes taking over from the retiring Sir Alex Ferguson at the end of last season.
This though is not the first time the England international has wanted to leave the club with every diehard Manchester United fan remembering when a couple of years ago he threatened to jump ship and join cross town rivals Manchester City which in the terms of football etiquette is tantamount to being a traitor.
This time however a move is on the cards for sure with the only question being which club will he go to, and with only a few clubs that can afford to pay his £300,000 a week salary his options are limited.
The front runner in the race to sign the 27-year-old is French Ligue 1 winners Paris Saint-Germain who would like to see Rooney paired up with Swedish international Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the Parc des Princes for next season, a strike force that would be the envy of any manager.
Before signing Rooney PSG need to sort out their managerial problems with current manager Italian Carlo Ancelotti wanting to leave and take over the spot left vacant by Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid, but must first wait for the French side to find a replacement with former French national team manager Laurent Blanc the leading candidate for the job.
Surprisingly, even Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is interested in Rooney for the Gunners telling Al Jazeera television:
“Rooney could be an interesting player for everybody in the world, who would turn him down?”
Arsenal have £70 million to spend on new players this summer following a new kit deal with Puma, but it is highly unlikely that they would want to meet Rooney’s wage demands, yet having watched Rooney’s brilliant goal for England last night during a friendly in Brazil it would certainly give a few clubs something to think about.
