Santi Cazorla admits he’s unsure if he will stay at Arsenal in the wake of the club’s defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Europa League on Thursday evening.
Diego Costa’s first-half strike at the Wanda Metropolitano secured a 1-0 victory for Diego Simeone’s side, who will now play Marseille in the final on May 16.
Cazorla has been sidelined for nearly two years and almost needed his foot amputated due to gangrene after having multiple surgeries to fix an Achilles injury.
But the 33-year-old is stepping up his return and was spotted training on his own at the Emirates Stadium last Thursday before Arsenal’s first leg against Atletico.
Cazorla’s contract expires this summer and with Arsene Wenger due to leave at the end of the season, the Spaniard admits his future is up in the air.
‘My contract finishes in June and I do not know anything about my future,’ Cazorla said after Arsenal’s defeat in Madrid on Thursday evening.
‘I’m going little by little with the injury. ‘Atletico are the big favorites for the final, they were already when they were eliminated from the Champions League.’
