Manchester United star Eric Bailly is concerned about his future at the club and will speak to Jose Mourinho about his situation before the club’s pre-season tour.
The Ivory Coast defender was a huge hit during his first season at the club following a £30milllion move from Villarreal, making 37 starts in all competitions.
However, the 24-year-old endured an injury-ravaged second term and was limited to just 15 starts last season.
Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Victor Lindelof were all ahead of Bailly towards the end of last season and Mourinho wants to sign Tottenham star Toby Alderweireld.
United travel to the United States for their pre-season tour in less than a fortnight’s time and the Sun claim Bailly will seek talks with Mourinho when he returns to first-team training later this week.
The defender is concerned that Mourinho has lost faith in him and doesn’t want to play a bit-part role at the Theatre of Dreams.
Bailly is happy at Old Trafford but is unwilling to sit on the bench during his third season at the club and will seek assurances from Mourinho that he remains in his plans.
United have signed Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant so far this summer and have just five weeks left to add to their squad. Mourinho wants a centre-back – preferably Alderweireld – and a back-up forward in the remainder of the window.
