With three new managers at three of the four/five top clubs next season, there should be a lot of spending in the English Premier League. Chelsea and Manchester City will likely spend big. David Moyes will have to find a replacement for want-away striker Wayne Rooney, should he leave.
According to Rafa Benitez, Chelsea will go on a £100 million spending spree to strengthen their team as the Special One returns. With Frank Lampard signing a new one-year deal, and a reported deal for Bayern Leverkusen’s Andre Schurrle, it’ll be interesting to see who Mourinho brings in himself. Reports say he’s interested in bringing Sami Khedira with him from Madrid, a player he rates very highly. Surely if they do spend £100 million, they’ll need to let a few players go.
Man City are said to be interested in Malaga’s young star Isco. With Pellegrini to be appointed manager, it’s thought this will be his first signing. Isco signed a new contract with Malaga on January and has a buyout clause of 35 million Euros.
Brazilian player Fernandinho is also a summer target for City, and has asked Shakhtar to lower his buyout.
The Sun are claiming both Chelsea and Manchester City will fight for Napoli’s Edinson Cavani. The Italian club claim they won’t accept any offer less than his buyout clause which is £52 million.
Arsenal are in the market for a goalkeeper, with Stoke’s Asmir Begovic and Sunderland’s Simon Mignolet on the radar.
According to the London Evening Standard Manchester United have launched a big to sign Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas. Fabregas would be open to a move as he wants first-team football, and could be a replacement for Wayne Rooney.
Liverpool defender Daniel Agger hopes Brendan Rodgers signs fellow Danish star Christian Eriksen. The defender said “We want to play attacking football with the ball on the ground and this is exactly what Christian Eriksen is all about. That is the kind of player we need. He has to do what he believes is best and no one than Christian should decide Christian’s future. You must never listen to anyone other than oneself.” Ajax star Eriksen is also said to be a target for Borussia Dortmund.
