[dropcap]A[/dropcap]fter the nail-biting Champions League clash, Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola praised the crowd and both teams for the satisfied game.
He said: “To come here and play the way we did against Juventus is one of the most special days of my career,”
“It was a great Champions League game between two excellent teams. I am satisfied with the performance of my players.”
“Arturo played the last two games very well. Physically he is very strong. We needed a player with his characteristics back there. Naturally I was not afraid, because I know his character and it was my decision.
“Juventus had three shots and scored two goals, but you cannot think of coming to this marvellous stadium in Turin and not conceding. We couldn’t think of coming here and dominating or winning 7-0.
“I know people always talk about the result, but Bayern put in a great performance and the result isn’t everything.
“It’s true Juve have a chance of qualifying, but so do we. I complimented Max Allegri after the game, as people enjoyed themselves watching this tonight.”
“If there was a drop in fitness levels, you don’t attack the way we did in the last 15 minutes. Fitness levels are one of the most important things in this country, but it doesn’t matter at all. It’s an individual issue.
“Did you really think we could come here and expect to dominate for 90 minutes against a side with Pogba, Mandzukic, Morata, Bonucci – one of my favourite ever players – Buffon and all these characters?
“There are some regrets considering the way we played that we didn’t win, but this is football. We are a team with many young players and will learn for the future.
“We’ll see how we are in three weeks and play another great game against Juventus.”
30-year-old Bayern Munich striker Arjen Robben has told the Champions League battle against Manchester United will be a tough one.
Four years ago, this Dutchman led his team into semi-finals in Champions league with a beautiful volley against the Red Devils.
The story has changed with United they are struggling to find their form and victory. They already lost their Premier League title and the top four place is become a big nightmare.
Robben knew the strength of the Premier League giants and said Bayern is not going to take it as an easy one.
He told that in Bayern’s official website: “It’s always fantastic to play in England,”
“And Old Trafford has got something particularly special about it, a fantastic atmosphere. As a footballer, you dream of playing Champions League quarter-finals in such atmospheres.”
“We’ve got to watch out,”
He strongly avoided the media opinions: “The media and public opinion is that Manchester are not in good shape and that we’re going through to the semis, but I don’t like that at all.
“It’s going to be a tough duel. We’ve got to be at our best from the very first minute, because you only need to get distracted for a second and you lose against Man U. If you lose concentration and lose the ball, then you get punished there.”
Two teams are going to hit by injuries, Robin Van Persie for United, Thiago Alcantara for Bayern.
He also stated about his national teammate Van Perise: “It’s a shame that [Van Persie’s] going to miss out,”
“Everybody wants to be involved when you get towards the end of the season and it’s painful when you can’t be – and I know that from experience.
“Of course Van Persie has particular quality, but Manchester still have enough options up front: Rooney, Welbeck, Nani, Valencia. Like I said, it’s going to be a difficult duel, but we’re all really looking forward to it.”
Raja Casablanca didn’t manage to pull up another upset in the World club championship. As everyone expected, powerhouse from Munich beat them 2:0, and won the trophy for the best club on Earth.
All was over after just 20 minutes. Bayern came into match with one thought in mind – to finish off the work as soon as possible.
In the 7. minute Dante scored after Raja’s players didn’t make it to leave him in the offside on time. Dante had time to look and shoot from near, and he didn’t have a problem to score first goal for European champion.
In the 22. minute it was game over for Raja. Alcantara and Alaba nicely won space with their precise passing, and Spanish midfielder got an opportunity to shoot from a 20 meters out. He was lethal, and his shot went into the far corner of Casablanca’s goal – 2:0.
After that, Bayern clearly didn’t want to push up, and they saved the result until the end.
With this trophy, Bayern won every competition in which they participated in the last season and a half.
Bayern Munich are further and further away from Borussia Dortmund in Bundesliga competition. Bavarian giant beat Hamburger in their Allianz Arena 3:1, and Borussia Dortmund managed to only a draw at Hoffenheim, result was 2:2.
Bayern attacked Hamburger goal with fierce, but didn’t manage to score until 42. minute, when Croatian striker Mario Mandzukic found the net. After that everything was easier to reigning German champions, Gotze in 52. minute extended their lead.
Hamburger gave a little scare to home crowd though, in 87. minute Lassoga netted for Hamburger, but in the stoppage time Shaqiri scored for the final result – 3:1 for Bayern.

Borussia Dortmund went on a trip to Hoffenheim, a side which plays very unpredictably this season. Dortmund’s coach, Jurgen Klopp warned his players that this won’t be an easy match, but they’ve taken that lightly. After only 37. minutes, the result was 2:0 for home side, and Dortmund had to work very hard to get back into game.
With Aubameyang and Piszczek goals, they managed to level the score 20 minutes before final whistle, but they failed in scoring third, winning goal.
Therefore, after this round, the gap between two best teams in Germany last season is very big – 12 points, and Borussia is now pretty much out of the title race.
The Bavarians winger is suffering from a knee injury and will not feature for Bayern Munich for six long weeks.
Arjen Robben, 29, has been sidelined until the winter break due to a knee problem he picked up in a game against Augsburg. The DFB Pokal match on Wednesday heated up with an early goal from the Dutch International. But, as early as 16th minute, he was stretchered out of the pitch due to a challenge by Marwin Hitz. Thomas Muller replaced the winger in their 2-0 win over Augsburg.
The Former Real Madrid forward helped his team to a triple win last season with a late winner in the final champions league match against Borussia Dortmund. Robben has scored 13 goals in 20 appearances for Bayern this season so far.
Bayern Munich has confirmed the Netherland man’s six week absence as he also suffers from a ligament injury . His agent told NOS, ” He will not play before the winter break”.
The winger was frustrated with his injury saying , ” I am very disappointed, of course. I was in great form and was looking forward to each game now this happened. I will be back though and we want to achieve the goals we have set for ourselves”.
Bayern Munich is concerned with their key player’s injury who will not be available until the winter break ends.
Manchester City will be desperate to get their Champions League bid back on track when they travel to Moscow to face CSKA on October 23rd.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side got their campaign up and running with an encouraging 3-0 victory over Viktoria Plzen but came back down to earth with a bang against Bayern Munich. The holders showed why they are favourites to retain their trophy in a classy 3-1 win.
CSKA Moscow beat Plzen 3-2 last time out so it will be a tough assignment in a difficult environment for a City side that can ill-afford another defeat.
City have failed to make an impact in the competition since becoming a major force in England, although, in their defence, they did have horror draws in 2011 and 2012.
The 2011-12 Premier League champions have already gone one better than last term, when they lost all three games on the road. They need to put their setback against a special Bayern outfit to one side and focus on a crucial double-header against CSKA.
City are better equipped to enjoy a good season in Europe’s premier competition, with Fernandinho, Alvaro Negredo, Jesus Navas and Stevan Jovetic adding to an already impressive squad. They are still finding their feet under Pellegrini; it is surely a matter of time before they find consistency.
The men from the Etihad Stadium would probably take a point from their away date in Russia, knowing they still have home games to come against both CSKA and Plzen.
More than anything, City need to prove they are a genuine threat to the likes of Bayern, Barcelona and Real Madrid. They have more than enough quality to make an impression in the Champions League; they just need to believe. Pellegrini’s men are 16/1 with BetVictor to lift the trophy in May.
CSKA are already eight points off the lead in the Russian Premier League and are the kind of side City should be beating, even away. The English club should have too much for the hosts, but there will not be much in it.
Various reports are emerging this morning suggesting that Liverpool’s Luis Suarez has been sold, and no for all you Gooners out there it is not to Arsenal as Arsene Wenger continues to struggle to sign any top players for the north London club.
Apparently Suarez is going to either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich the latter being managed by former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola who is the brother of the Uruguayans agent Pere Guardiola.
All the talk at the moment in the world of transfers seems to be centred around Real Madrid and their pursuit of Tottenham’s Gareth Bale who is expected to join Los Blancos for a world record £85 million plus the inclusion of Madrid’s Alvaro Morata.
While this transfer seems to be keeping everyone’s attention behind the scenes there are reports that Manchester United and Nike have been in talks with the Spanish giants for the past ten days trying to put together a deal that will see former Manchester United player Cristiano Ronaldo return to Old Trafford for around £80 million the same figure he left United for back in 2009.
The 27-year-old has two years remaining on his contract with Madrid, yet has refused to sign a new one leading to speculation that he may be on his way out if Real refuse to meet his £20 million net per=season wage demand.
Talking to British sports radio yesterday former Real Madrid president Ramone Calderon said:
I know that he is not happy at all with the attitude and behaviour of the president. He is asking for €20million net every season which is going to be difficult for Real to accept,” he told TalkSPORT’s Drive Time show:
“I think the president has all his eggs on the table just in case he can’t get the renewal of Cristiano. That is my impression.
“He’s afraid at some moment that Cristiano will say, ‘I am not going to go on’. That will be bad news for Madrid. I would like to see him retire at Real but now the situation is difficult. Let’s see in the next weeks or months if it can be sorted out and he can stay.”
Meanwhile at the Allianz Arena in Germany the Bundesliga champions have just sold striker Mario Gomez to Italian Serie A side Fiorentina, and could be in the market for a striker like Suarez.
Liverpool for their part have just last night made an offer for Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa which is another sign that Suarez is on his way out of Anfield and while all the wheels are turning my money rests firmly on Real Madrid which goes back to earlier this summer when Suarez said” it would be hard to say no to Real Madrid.”
Liverpool has already laid down the law to their top goalscorer saying that they expect him to turn up for pre-season training on the 21st of July.
Arsenal had put in an offer of £30 million for the 26-year-old striker that was quickly rejected by Liverpool who considers their prized asset to be worth more than £40 million.
Currently Suarez is on holiday following playing for Uruguay in the Confederations Cup that was held in Brazil.
When talking about his current situation to a radio station in his native Uruguay said:
“You never know what’s going to happen. A phone call could change my plans.”
“I am talking with my agent and I always have my phone with me in case anything develops.”
When asked about Arsenal’s offer, the Uruguayan international said: “It’s good to know that after everything that’s happened, teams in England still value me as a footballer.
“There are several options. There are two or three interested clubs and Liverpool know about this.”
Suarez’s agent the brother of newly appointed Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola, Pere was on Merseyside Monday for separate meeting with both Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre and manager Brendan Rodgers where he told then of his clients desire to play for a club that is competing in the Champions League.
Liverpool came seventh last season and still appear to be a long way off competing in the Champions League which could be a reason why Suarez wants to leave now.
Secretly I think a deal is in place with Real Madrid, the question is whether or not they would be willing to pay Liverpool’s asking price for the controversial Suarez.
There are plenty of big name transfers still to happen this summer, and I thing that Luis Suarez will be one of them.
It had appeared to anyone who was following this story that a move by Borussia Dortmund’s prolific goal scorer Robert Lewandowski to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich was a done deal.
This was of course until Dortmund’s president Hans-Joachin Watzke had his say in the matter.
“Lewandowski will definitely not go to Bayern in 2013,” Watzke said in an interview with the German sports paper Bild. “This is final.”
Despite what Watzke may say it is just a ploy to raise the price of the Polish international, and to get other clubs willing to put bids in as the 25-year-old is out of contract next summer and would be free to join any club he wants even following his Dortmund team-mate Mario Götze to Bayern Munich.
This news will of course come a shock to the striker who thought the deal was done and dusted when he said to Bild: “We have been in agreement with the new club for some time now. I have informed the people in charge at Dortmund and I assume that all will now be cleared up and I can join the club of my wish this summer.”
“This would be the best thing for all sides. Dortmund are a fantastic club that will always have a special place in my heart. However, I am looking for a new challenge in the future,” the striker added.
Manchester United has long been linked with Lewandowski but the question remains as to whether new manager David Moyes has a place for him in his plans for the club.
If as expected Wayne Rooney leaves it would of course present the perfect opportunity for Lewandowski to join the Red Devils.
Also now unable to sign the man they want the German Champions may turn their attention to Liverpool’s Luis Suarez who has said to the press in Uruguay that he is looking to leave England, and with his managers brother Pep Guardiola now in charge at Bayern this is also a possibility.
