Liverpool finishes the year with perfect win

liverpool new year

Liverpool finished the year with a victory over relegation fighters Sunderland 1-0 and new manager Jurgen Klopp is planning to get new strikers in January window.

Liverpool stands on seventh in Points table, shares the position with Manchester United. No goal scoring shows from Liverpool this season, but their progress on earning three points working perfectly.

After the German coach signed, Liverpool become comfortable with results and needing a striker like Luis Suarez, who is signed by Barcelona with big amount.

On the course of Premier league title, Klopp is not still accepting their side as a contenders.

In post-match interview he said:  “No, I don’t know [if we are title contenders],” Klopp told Sky Sports.

“You can see we both have 30 points, and you can see how at Manchester United the atmosphere isn’t the best, so you can see how football can be sometimes.

“But we have not to look at it. We wanted at least 30 points and we’ve got them. We go home, celebrate New Year’s Eve with the family, then go to West Ham and try to win again.”

Beating Leicester City and winning two consecutive matches gives good New Year for Liverpool.

If they lure any striker in January, It will be a major boost for the Reds and can join the Premier league title race.

Christian Benteke continues his consistency in goal scoring against Sunderland. He scored 6 goals in last seven game against Sunderland.

Benteke said: “Two goals, six points and two clean sheets is really good for us. It’s well deserved.

“It was hard work. We were the better team and you could see that the pressure for both teams because of the intensity of the last weeks and months.

“They made it hard for us. Then we made the goal after half-time and we controlled the game but couldn’t make another goal. But we got to the final whistle, three points, go home, everything is good!”

Benteke picks the perfect time to hand in a transfer request

If you are an Aston Villa fan you will be upset to hear that the man who scored 40% of all your goals last season has put in a transfer request.

If there was ever a time to pick when as a footballer to ask for a transfer it has to be Christian Benteke od Aston Villa with the big Belgium picking his moment with perfection by handing in his transfer request a day after much speculation in the Press that having lost out on Napoli striker Edinson Cavani to Paris Saint-Germain Jose Mourinho would now turn his attention to last season’s Premiership sensation Christian Benteke.

The timing could not have been better, as it is there are very few top class strikers around that are available, and you have at least four top teams in the Premiership looking for a striker, and as I already said Chelsea have lost out on Cavani and Robert Lewandowski leaving Chelsea with two people to consider Benteke or Hulk.

Andres Villas-Boas is devastated that he could not land his main target Barcelona’s David Villa preferring to stay in Spain signing for Athletico Madrid for less money than Spurs were willing to pay so that means they will now be after Benteke or a cheaper option from Valencia in the form of Roberto Soldado.

Liverpool too have been tracking the Congolese born Belgium as a replacement for Luis Suarez who it appears is on his way out of Anfield after his agent Pere Guardiola paid Brendan Rodgers and Ian Ayer a visit at Liverpool’s Melwood training ground yesterday.

Then there is Arsenal who just cannot get that deal finalized for Argentinian striker Gonzalo Higuain who after having a £30 million bid turned down by Liverpool for Suarez could also switch their attention to Benteke.

Even Villa manager Paul Lambert is resigned to the fact that the 22-year-old is leaving but after signing him from Genk last season for £7 million American owner Randy Lerner will see a nice profit with Benteke selling for around £20 million.

Chelsea prepare bid for Benteke

Chelsea’s new manager Jose Mourinho upset that he was unable to land Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani from Napoli following Laurent Blanc’s arrival at the Parc des Princes.

Blanc an admirer of Cavani was unlike Chelsea willing to pay the 26-year-olds buyout clause, deciding that the strong striker would be a perfect fit for the Qatari owned French champions Paris Saint-Germain where he will play alongside Sweden’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the Parisian attack.

The other striker Mourinho wanted was Borussia Dortmund’s Polish international Robert Lewandowski, but the Pole has committed himself to one more year at the Westphalia side, and will then move to play for European Champions Bayern Munich.

Mourinho has always favored a strong front man capable of leading the attack on his own as was the case with Didier Drogba, and has now turned to Aston Villa’s front man Christian Benteke who almost singlehandedly kept Villa from being relegated last season thanks to his 19 goals.

At only 22-year-old the Belgium international would certainly be interested in joining a club that will by competing not only for the Premiership title, but the Champions League also, with the bonus that he could play along with his Belgium teammate Romelu Lukaku.

Aston Villa have said that Benteke is not for sale yet should Chelsea make a reasonably sized offer I can see the striker moving to Stamford Bridge, as Chelsea’s current two strikers Fernando Torres and Demba Ba are not in the Portuguese managers future plans.
