Chelsea are set to make a late move for Swansea City striker Fernando Llorente, according to reports.

The striker is currently out injured with a shoulder injury he sustained while skating during the summer break but that hasn’t deterred Antonio Conte from making a move.

Conte has been a big admirer of Llorente from their time together at Juventus and he is keen to work with the striker at Stamford Bridge.

According to the Independent via Wales Online, Conte wants Llorente as back-up to Morata and would launch a bid to sign the former Atletico Bilbao striker before the transfer window closes.

Chelsea tried to sign Llorente in the January transfer window when the club had issues with Diego Costa but Swansea rebuffed all attempts to sign the striker.

Conte has now asked the club to try sign the striker again as he attempts to bolster his squad ahead of the club’s return to the Champions League.

The Blues hope Llorente can be gotten for around £20m but Swansea are reportedly holding out for £30m.

Personally, I think a move for Llorente will be a master stroke by Chelsea and will go a long way to strengthen our strike force. We won’t be able to compete in the Champions League and Premier League with Morata and Batshuayi alone and an experience head like Llorente will be a quality backup option.

Antonio Conte has once again called for new signings as he prepares to guide Chelsea to the Premier League defense.

Following the convincing 2-0 win over Everton without star man Eden Hazard, Conte praised his squad but called for reinforcements before the transfer window closes on Thursday.

The Blues have brought in four players this summer but have allowed a lot of their first team players of last season leave the club. This has left the squad light in depth and Conte is keen to address that before the transfer window shuts.

The boss has regular stated the need for more signings and after the game against Everton, he took the opportunity to remind the board once again,to bring in more players in order to help us cope with the demands of playing in the Champions League and the Premier League.

“There are four days to go in the market. I think the club is working very hard to improve our squad,” he told a post-match news conference, as quoted by Goal.

“Don’t forget when we start, next month, in September we have to play seven games.

“I need to rotate my players because it’s very difficult to play seven games in a month with some players.

“I think the club is working very hard to strengthen the squad. They know very well our situation.

“But, I repeat, I’m ready in every case to continue to work with this group of players, with the players we have.”

Chelsea are currently in talks with Leicester City over Danny Drinkwater and Arsenal over Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain. The club are also believed to be keen on Everton’s Ross Barkley and Swansea’s Fernando Llorente.

Conte still hasn’t given up on Juventus fullback Alex Sandro who he had identified as his top target but the Italian champions are refusing to sell him.

Chelsea are expected to sign at least three more players in the next few days which will go a long way in boosting the squad depth.
