Back with a Bang for Manchester United?

Manchester-United-vs-Liverpool

Manchester United avoided the same fate as Arsenal or Chelsea after they managed a hard-fought 2-1 win over Wolfsburg in the Champions League. It has been a tale of disappointment for English clubs in this season’s Champions League group stages. English clubs have already lost five games in the group stages and it looked like more was on the cards when Caligiuri opened the scoring for Wolfsburg in the fourth minute. United’s return to the prestigious European competition began with a disappointing defeat against PSV Eindhoven away from home. The team was looking forward to this home fixture in order to gain some form in Europe.

Barcelona and Bayern Munich are favourites to win the title according to football betting odds, but manager Louis Van Gaal spoke about United being capable of winning the title this season. On the evidence of their display against Wolfsburg, they will have to improve a lot in order to beat much better opposition in the latter stages. For the time being, qualifying to the last 16 has to be the main priority for the club. It is fast turning out into a difficult group with all teams level on points following match day 2. Anthony Martial has been in sparkling form since moving from Monaco, but his wait for a first Champions League goal for United goes on.

Against Wolfsburg, Martial was not spectacular and just about did the job. Despite winning three points, Van Gaal came up with the excuse of tiredness already hitting his team. United have had to reach this stage after having played qualifying matches. Juan Mata and Chris Smalling were

It remains to be seen if the Champions League exertions also put tremendous pressure on the team ahead of the game against Arsenal during the weekend. United finally moved back to the top spot after last week’s 3-0 win over Sunderland.

New Red man Juan Mata is ready to handle the fresh challenge with Manchester United. This season represents many changes for him…from blue to red – from 10 to 8.

Mata’s presence will definitely create positive changes in the performance of the squad for the new club. He is a good set-up man for strikers and should be a big factor in taking the team’s play to another level along with Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie.

Mata will be a Mesut Ozil for Manchester United, but will  need to exercise some patience to adopt with Old Trafford. This change of environment should help him secure a place on the national team for Brazil in 2014.

He has many contenders on thenational squad and all of them represent some of the world’s best midfielders (Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Sergio Busquets, Cesc Fabregas, Xabi Alonso, David Silva and Santi Cazorla).

After signing with United, Mata is excited to join with Rooney and the rest of the team. Manchester United has a huge stable of midfielders, but this £37million man still has a great chance to find a place on the first team. He will be the favorite player behind ManU strikers.

David Moyes has really done a good move in January’s transfer window and said there is more to come. We can expect a couple of big signings in the summer transfer.

He picked No.8 in new club and commented: “I know seven is an iconic number here but I was speaking with David (Moyes) about it and we decided eight is a good number for me,” he said. “Hopefully, it will bring me good luck.”

Big man for this move David Moyes has thrilled with this special signing. He is looking for a significant improvement in the team.

Moyes said: “I didn’t think players would be available but, when we got a sniff that there was a chance Juan could be available, we went after it right away.

“We said the summer window would be tough but we’ve had a chance to look at everybody and now we will be making changes. Juan is the first.”

Juan Mata denies transfer speculations

Juan Mata

Juan Mata has said he is not leaving Chelsea and has cleared speculation over his transfer rumors. Mata makes Chelsea strong in all the matches and makes opportunity for great victories in last season.

“I think it’s normal in every transfer window that there are lots of rumours but I’m happy here,”

“It’s been a very, very good two seasons for me here, maybe the best of my career, and what I want this season is the same.

“I’m looking forward to achieving as many trophies as we did the last two seasons (Champions League and FA Cup 2012, Europa League 2013) and hopefully this is going to be a good season for us again.” He said on Chelsea TV.

“Has it been hard for me to focus on my football with all the speculation? For me it’s not, if you have things clear in your mind and have belief in yourself. My only aim is to play here, grow as a player and do as good a season as the last two which were amazing for me.

“These two seasons have flown by, but to me this is good because when you are enjoying things and you are happy, time goes quicker.”

He added: “We are doing a very good week of training and I feel really good. I’m looking forward to playing. Yes I am back to 100 per cent,”

Mata is completely fit and ready to play full season. Sir Alex Ferguson has said Chelsea has strong midfielders in Premier League with Mata, Oscar and Hazard.

“It was a difficult pre-season for me because I had an injury, I never had this before. It took me a little bit more time to get fit but now I’m feeling really good.

“I had four weeks off [ahead of pre-season training] and to be honest that’s too much time for me because in the last five or six years I didn’t have this amount of rest.

“But it was good to rest, to be far from football and to get ready because I think it’s going to be a long season again. Can I play 70 games again like last year? It depends on every player.

“For me the best thing is to play as much as I can because I love to play, I love playing at the weekend and in the middle of the week. If you are having a lot of games during the season, maybe the training is the games.”
