Pep Guardiola doesn’t want to give up on signing Alexis Sanchez despite Wenger’s desire to keep the 28 year old.

City has been linked with Sanchez all summer and have already had a £45m bid knocked back by Arsenal but they aren’t willing to give up on the Chilean until the transfer window closes.

Guardiola has dropped a huge hint that he still hopes to sign Sanchez from Arsenal before the transfer window closes in a few days.

Speaking in his pre match press conference ahead of this weekend’s round of Premier League fixtures, Guardiola remained coy on his club’s pursuit of Sanchez.

‘He’s an Arsenal player, like Mbappe is a Monaco player, like Johnny Evans is a West Bromwich Albion player, he said.

‘You have to ask Alexis. He’s a player and the other clubs have to talk about it. Normally I don’t talk about players from other clubs.’

Guardiola’s chances of signing Sanchez this summer is almost zero because Wenger has decided he will keep the striker at all cost, even if it means allowing him leave for nothing next year.

The club is expected to sell Chamberlain – another player who is in the final year of his contract – to Chelsea and that would strengthen Wenger’s desire to keep Sanchez.

Arsenal have lost key players to City in the past, which left Gooners fuming. The manager would be keen to avoid such happening again.

Arsène Wenger’s long term plan for Hector Bellerin

[dropcap]A[/dropcap]rsene Wenger has confirmed that Hector Bellerin will stay in Arsenal for long term so his move over Barcelona and Manchester City has been cleared.

21-years-old Spanish defender remains a highly demanded player among top clubs in Premier League as well as La Liga, but Wenger impressed with is recent mental and physical progress.

Pep Guardiola is targeting to lure him on January transfer window to smooth is new line-up. Guardiola very keen to bring him to avoid the offensive abilities in City.

Despite of these speculation, Wenger has stated: “His progress has been absolutely spectacular because he has top mental strength.

“I think he loves as well to be here and he has responsibilities already in the dressing room for such a young age. It’s something remarkable.”

“He has nearly three years to go and we always try get the players to the level where we think they deserve to be,”

“So we try to extend, certainly, his contract. For me, his long-term future is here.

He joined Arsenal at 16 so now he is a complete Arsenal player as per Wenger statement. Place your enhanced odds on Betfair for this young talented Spaniard for January window.

Bellerin is a complete modern full-back with his pace, technique and dribbling so undoubtedly he will bring new force to Guardiola’s attacking game.

Zidane resumes rivalry with Luis Enrique at El Clasico

With ten points separating La Liga leaders Barcelona and third placed Real Madrid heading into this weekend’s El Clasico, the fixture does perhaps not provide quite the hype in which has surrounded past meetings between the two. However, after a dominating 4-0 victory for Barcelona earlier on in the season, Zinedine Zidane will be determined to make amends as he comes up against old foe Luis Enrique for the first time as a manager. Over the years the two men have encountered each other many times on the field, and now bring their rivalry to the managerial stage as they take charge of their respective sides. Enrique will be looking to continue his excellent record against Madrid, having won over half of his El Clasico fixtures as a Barcelona player.

Aiming to win their fourth back to back La Liga title, Barcelona go into the fixture against a wounded animal in Madrid, who have struggled for consistency throughout this season. With key battles taking place all over the pitch, many will be hoping that the post match talk surrounds the football, rather than on pitch shenanigans and unsporting behaviour in which has marred recent matches.

The BBC vs MSN is gaining much of the attention in the build up to the game. Barcelona’s trio of Messi, Suarez and Neymar Jr have been in scintillating form this season, contributing to a combined sixty nine La Liga goals between them. Meanwhile, Real’s front three of Benzema, Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo have lacked their usual firepower in front of goal, leading to the downfall of the Bernabeu side so far this campaign. They will certainly have to bring their A game if Madrid are to achieve their first victory at the Nou Camp since 2012. Head to where Zidane’s men are 5/1 on to close the gap on Barcelona come Saturday night.

The rivalry between the two teams has only heightened in recent years, with the battles between the likes of Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola bringing a whole new element to the historic fixture. Zidane will certainly be hoping to have a long reign with Madrid, and if he does so will no doubt have to improve his side’s recent record against the Catalan giants. The Frenchman will be doing his all to maintain a sense of calm within his team, with past occasions in the past on occasion being dominated by disciplinary issues. Madrid are 3/1 to have a man sent off at the Nou Camp.

Pep Guardiola: A great Champions League game between two excellent teams

[dropcap]A[/dropcap]fter the nail-biting Champions League clash, Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola praised the crowd and both teams for the satisfied game.

He said: “To come here and play the way we did against Juventus is one of the most special days of my career,”

“It was a great Champions League game between two excellent teams. I am satisfied with the performance of my players.”

“Arturo played the last two games very well. Physically he is very strong. We needed a player with his characteristics back there. Naturally I was not afraid, because I know his character and it was my decision.

“Juventus had three shots and scored two goals, but you cannot think of coming to this marvellous stadium in Turin and not conceding. We couldn’t think of coming here and dominating or winning 7-0.

“I know people always talk about the result, but Bayern put in a great performance and the result isn’t everything.

“It’s true Juve have a chance of qualifying, but so do we. I complimented Max Allegri after the game, as people enjoyed themselves watching this tonight.”

“If there was a drop in fitness levels, you don’t attack the way we did in the last 15 minutes. Fitness levels are one of the most important things in this country, but it doesn’t matter at all. It’s an individual issue.

“Did you really think we could come here and expect to dominate for 90 minutes against a side with Pogba, Mandzukic, Morata, Bonucci – one of my favourite ever players – Buffon and all these characters?

“There are some regrets considering the way we played that we didn’t win, but this is football. We are a team with many young players and will learn for the future.

“We’ll see how we are in three weeks and play another great game against Juventus.”

Diego Simeone stays with Atletico Madrid

[dropcap]D[/dropcap]iego Simeone has ended the speculation over his exit from Atletico Madrid.

He has been linked with Chelsea after their humiliating start and sacking of Jose Mourinho.

But, Simeone told El Pasis: “Why can’t I be here longer? Why did I choose a five-year contract? Because I see a club that is ‘virgin’ and Miguel Ángel [Gil Marín, the CEO] and Enrique [Cerezo, the president] have the ability to open up new sources to strengthen in. It’s not easy to leave Atlético.”

Now it’s become more complicate for the Blues. Guus Hiddink appointed for an interim basis and they need to do some magic to bring Pep Guardiola to Stamford Bridge.

Guardiola’s last chance, Wenger’s optimism

Bayern Munich, the team which have most of the records in football book, this time travelling to London to expecting a new diamond on their crown. Arsenal’s recent form would bother them definitely.

Pep Guardiola side is sidelined many key players due to injury, but they manage to maintain their success run with the help of individuals performance.

After their record win in Bundesliga, Guardiola said they are in a crucial moment in Champions League games.

Guardiola told: “In this situation, they have the advantage,”

“They have to win. When that happens with these kind of players they are going to make the best performance possible. I cannot expect a team that doesn’t fight for 90 minutes.

“It’s the last chance. In life when you have the last chance you give absolutely everything, and we have to be prepared for that against Arsenal.”

He also has good admiration for Arsene Wenger and appreciated him for his vital role for Arsenal. He believes Wenger can make changes and bring big silverwares for the team.

“Twenty years at one club is now impossible,”

“Nobody has that energy any more. It can get boring for the people; Arsène is an exception, like Ferguson was. Wenger is not only a manager, he is a sporting director. He changed the club. They played defensively before he came. Wenger is more than just a manager for this club. He is almost everything. He can be at a club for longer. Me: no!”

Meantime, Wenger hopes that his side will stop Poland goal machine Robert Lewandowski

Wenger said: “The best way to combat him is for us to have the ball,”

“After that you have to be shrewd with him because inside the box he is outstanding – his technique, his finishing and movement. That’s where we will need the experience of Mertesacker and Koscielny.”
