Arsenal are on the verge of missing out on Nice midfielder Jean-Michel Seri, as Barcelona are closes in on his signature.

The 26 year old midfielder is reportedly a top target of Arsenal but Wenger is yet to make a concrete bid for the midfielder.

According to a report in the Daily Cannon, Seri is now edging closer to a move to Barcelona.

The report claims the midfielder’s move to the Camp Nou is 90% done.

BarceloNa are determined to strengthen their squad and are now set to add Seri to their star-studded midfield.

It’s being claimed the midfielder is considered as a replacement for Andres Iniesta, who is already in the twilight of his career. Barcelona have been working on a replacement for the Spaniard for sometime and it was in November they identified Seri as a potential replacement.

However, the Côte d’ivoire international wasn’t their first choice, they wanted Philippe Coutinho but Liverpool are reluctant to sell, forcing them to turn their attention to Seri.

Gooners had been hoping Seri would be the much needed successor to Santi Cazorla but Barcelona’s interest means we will have to continue our search for a successor to the Spaniard.

Arsenal will be disappointed to lose out on a talented player like Seri but it was only going to be difficult to compete with a club who just received £200m from Neymar’s sale.

Who will lure Zlatan Ibrahimovic in England?

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Paris St Germain forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic refused to confirm whether he would stay at the French capital next season. One of the enigmatic forwards in world football, Ibrahimovic has really come of age in the last few years. He has played a major role in transforming PSG into a global giant. However, the 34-year-old is at a time where you should consider the possibility of extending his career beyond one or two years. PSG may be ready to offer the Swedish forward a one-year extension while Ibrahimovic will see other destinations as being more attractive.

Ibrahimovic was once again at his destructive best after scoring one goal and setting up the other for Adrien Rabiot. The Swede has now contributed eight goals – through goal and assists – in the Champions League from a similar number of matches. Despite concerns about his age, he remains as one of the most potent forwards in Europe right now. The goal against Chelsea helped him go beyond the 30 goal mark for the campaign. There appears to be interest from the Premier League in the Swedish international. Football betting odds places PSG at 7/1 for the European cup, which has been the objective of the club’s owners when they took over five years ago.

On his recent interview with Skysports: “Age is just a number. The difference is how you feel. I feel young, I feel very young. The season I’ve done so far, I’ve never had a better one statistically.”

Despite Ibrahimovic’s future being unclear, manager Laurent Blanc continues to prefer the former AC Milan and Barcelona star over the much younger Edinson Cavani. The Uruguayan came on as a substitute in both legs and he is widely tipped to leave in the summer after completely falling out with the club. PSG have now qualified for the quarter-finals of the Champions League for a fourth consecutive season. They are no longer the underdogs in European football, as they need to be considered as a potential champion.

Blanc will mostly be worried about his team’s weakness when enjoying possession. Much of Chelsea’s attacks came from PSG being put under pressure when having the ball in their own half.

Paris Saint-Germain opt for plan B

Paris Saint-Germain

Breaking news out of Europe this morning is that the big spending Paris Saint-Germain have failed in their attempt to lure Tottenham manager Andres Villas-boas to Paris despite offering him what was rumored to be a three year contract, and the chance to compete in the Champions League.

It is thought that the 35-year-old Portuguese manager wanted to show his loyalty to Spurs chairman Daniel Levy following Levy hiring him despite a disastrous spell at Chelsea, and with two years left on his deal at White Hart Lane, he is keen to build a team capable of reaching the Champions League.

It is also thought that he relishes the chance to compete with the man responsible for all the managerial changes Jose Mourinho who left Madrid to take over at Chelsea.

It was Mourinho’s departure from Real Madrid that forced the Spanish giants to look for a new man to put in charge with “Los Blancos” opting for PSG’s Carlo Ancelotti.

With Villas-Boas saying no to the job in France the Qatari owned club have gone for plan B a stop gap in their long term plan of having current Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger move to the Parc de Princes when his contract at the emirates expires in 2014.

According to all the Sports newspapers in France, Italy, and Spain former England manager Fabio Capello has been offered a one-year contract to manage the Ligue 1 Champions.

Currently managing the Russian national team a short term contract would allow the 67-year-old Italian to return to the Russian team for the 2014 World Cup a competition for which they are almost certain to qualify for.

PSG wants AVB and Bale from Spurs

PSG wants AVB and Bale from SpursThe news that mega rich Paris Saint-Germain have offered Tottenham manager Andres Villa-Boas the job at the Parc des Princes could be too good to turn down for the young Portuguese manager, who has done a great job this season with Tottenham redeeming his reputation after being fired by Chelsea.

The Qatari owned French team have bottomless pockets, and would have no difficulty in paying the £10 million buyout clause it would take for Tottenham to release their manager.

The French Ligue 1 Champions if all the reports are true have lost their current coach Carlo Ancelotti to Real Madrid, a club that has already said they have made Gareth Bale their number one target this summer as newly reelected Los Blanco’s president Florentino Perez looks to build his second galacticos team in the  Santiago Bernabéu.

There may be more to this story than just PSG wanting to hire the 35-year-old as their manager with the British tabloid Daily Mail reporting that it is part of a ploy to snatch Gareth Bale from the clutches of Real Madrid by installing AVB as their manager and offering the young Welshman the chance to join the manager he so highly regards in Paris where they expect to challenge for the Champions League next season, while also battling big spending Monaco for the French title.

In a way I would love to see AVB stay at White Hart Lane with Chairman Daniel Levy doing everything he can in order for the north London club to be able to compete with the big spending teams in the Premiership.

Franco Baldini is being brought in from Roma to be the clubs new director of football, and that along with a brand new training facility and plans for a new stadium are all steps in the right direction, I can’t help feeling that no matter how grateful Villas-Boas feels towards Levy the temptation to run a club where he could buy whoever he wanted would be too good an opportunity to turn down, and that faced with the thought of losing Bale, and seeing all the clubs that finished above Tottenham last season brining in top talent will make him leave.
