Bernd Leno has held talks with Arsenal ahead of a potential transfer to the Emirates this summer, reports say.
The Bayern Leverkusen goalkeeper is hot property and recently turned down a move to Napoli, while Arsenal are on the hunt for a new No.1 to replace Petr Cech.
Leno rejected the chance to switch to Italy and is holding out for a bigger club to come calling.
German publication Bild claim Arsenal are battling Atletico Madrid for Leno’s signature and a move to either club is possible.
‘I can confirm that there were negotiations with Naples, which we canceled. Naples is not an option,’ a representative of Leno’s, Uli Ferber, confirmed.
Leno has made 37 appearances this season and is under contract at Leverkusen until 2020.
The 26-year-old is Leverkusen’s No.1 stopper and is free to leave the club if a side meets the £22million release clause in his contract.
An impending change in management at Arsenal means several Gunners are fearing for their futures at the club.
Cech has made several high-profile errors this season and is thought to be considering leaving the Emirates this summer.
