Spanish side Valencia are set to rival Arsenal for the signature of Juventus winger Juan Cuadrado. According to reports, the Spanish side who tried to sign the Colombian international in the just concluded window retain an interest in the player.
The player’s impressive performances last season is believed to have caught the attention Wenger and other European clubs. Cuadrado played a huge part as Juventus enjoyed a remarkable run to the final of the Champions League and comfortably defended their Serie A title.
Following the failed pursuit of key target Thomas Lemar in the summer window, recent reports have indicated that the 29-year-old is seen by Wenger as an alternative to the French international.
The Gunners would however have to fend off interest from Los Che who are determined to secure the player’s services.
El Gol Digital via Gunnersphere reports that Valencia’s manager Marcelino had earmarked the Colombian international as a potential signing during the summer but the Spanish club were unable to finalise a deal for the player. The report further states that Cuadrado still remains a target for the La Liga side. The Spanish club are however understood to be wary of the Gunners financial might which puts them at a huge disadvantage, making the Gunners slight favorites.
Cuadrado who is adept at playing both as an attacking fullback or further forward in support of the strikers will definitely be a welcome addition at the Emirates. The departure of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the last window and the expected departure of Alexis Sanchez in one of the next two windows means the Gunners are in dire need of a talented wideman.
