Chelsea have appointed Gianfranco Zola as Maurizio Sarri’s No 2 at Stamford Bridge.
The former Napoli boss was appointed as Blues manager on Saturday, one day after the club announced Antonio Conte’s departure.
Sarri has already brought Jorginho from Naples to west London.
And Zola has become the next figure through the door, as he returns, 15 years after leaving Chelsea as a player.
Zola has managed in England with the likes of West Ham, Watford, and Birmingham.
But the Italian is clearly happy to be working as a No 2 to Sarri.
Zola will return to Chelsea as a coach, but it is unclear what his exact role will be.
Sarri has less than a month to prepare his players for the new season with Chelsea scheduled to kick off their Premier League campaign at Huddersfield on August 11.
The transfer window will slam shut on August 9, meaning Chelsea will have to work quickly to bring in Sarri’s targets.
The Blues, however, have already managed to snare one of Sarri’s targets as Jorginho arrived in a £50million deal from Napoli.
It is understood Chelsea are closing in on signing Juventus star Gonzalo Higuna Higuain and Daniele Rugani.
