Arsene Wenger has hailed club youngster Eddie Nketiah after his match winning performance against Norwich City on Tuesday.
The young winger scored a brace to hand Arsenal a 2-1 win over the canaries, despite starting the game on the bench.
Nketiah scored Arsenal’s first goal in the 86th minutes, fifteen seconds after he came off the bench and he scored the winner deep into extra time.
Wenger has now hailed the young winger’s fairytale impact, claiming he has never seen a young player make such an impact on a big game.
Speaking after the game, Wenger spoke highly of the winger, saying:
‘I can’t remember a young player having such an impact in a game like that. Until he came on we lacked ideas and creativity.’
‘I knew he had quality, but when the team need you and you deliver, that’s another quality you don’t know about until you go on to the pitch.
‘I’m impressed to think that he was not even conceived when I was already here! But it’s good as well because life gives chances to young people. Hopefully he’ll have a long career at Arsenal.
Nketiah joined Arsenal from Chelsea as a 14 year old and has proven to be a shrewd capture by Arsenal.
No one knows why he decided to leave Stamford Bridge, all we can say is we are blessed to have such a talented players on our books. The fact that he joined us from a rival even makes it sweeter.
